4 fun magic tricks for kids

Magic is fascinating for both children and adults. It does not matter how old you are. Whether you just want to surprise your kids at home or by a special bug ring, we will show you a range of magic tricks for kids.

They will make your children’s jaws fall to the ground!

1. The disappearing coin

Making a coin disappear is one of the simplest magic tricks for kids.

To perform this trick you need the following:

  • Two sheets of white paper.
  • A crystal glass.
  • Transparent adhesive tape.
  • A coin.
  • A cloth to cover the glass.

It requires some prior preparation to perform this particular trick. Once you have gathered it all together, first prepare the glass you want to use for the trick.

Take one of the sheets of paper and draw a circle using the mouth of the glass. You should then cut out the circle.

Now there are just two extra steps to prepare for this trick. Tape the second sheet of paper firmly to the table. The paper circle you cut out earlier should be taped to the top of the glass.

The purpose of taping the paper circle to the top of the glass is so that no one can see that there is paper on it when it faces down on the second sheet of paper that is taped to the table.

Magic tricks for kids: time to start the magic

Once you have everything ready, you can start performing the trick. Tell the children that you want the coin to disappear. Cover the glass with a cloth or tea towel and  ask the children to say the magic words.

Cover the glass. The children will now think that the coin has disappeared. In fact, the paper taped to the glass covers the coin.

2. The balloon that does not burst

To perform this magic trick you need the following materials:

  • Several balloons.
  • Needles (or another sharp object that is less dangerous if you work with children).
  • Transparent adhesive tape.

You should prepare this trick in advance by doing the following: once you have inflated all the balloons,  stick a small piece of tape on your balloon. The balloons given to the children must be without tape so that they cannot see through the trick.

When performing the trick, give the balloons without tape to the children present and give them something sharp that will puncture their balloons.

Everyone should try to puncture their balloon at the same time. The balloons given to the kids will burst, but not your balloon. Yours will not burst as long as you try to prick where you put the tape.

3. Magic tricks for kids: I’m stealing your nose

Although this magic trick is mostly aimed at very young children, it always makes them smile. Simply tell them you want to steal their little nose and grab it for a few seconds.

Next, push your thumb between your middle finger and forefinger so that it looks like a small piece of their nose. For a few seconds, the kids will really think their nose is gone.

4. The trick with magic cards

To perform this magic trick, simply use a set of playing cards containing 21 cards. To begin the trick, select a child from the audience to choose a card. Have the child show it to the rest of the audience if there are others watching.

Once the child has chosen his card, divide the cards into three piles with the card side up. You need to ask the child what group his or her card is in.

Place the deck with the selected card between the other two piles. Repeat this action while asking the child to tell twice more which pile contains his or her card.

That way, the card the child has chosen should be the card in the middle of any of the piles, after identifying the third attempt.

Practice these tricks prior to the show

A big part of performing these tricks successfully is practicing them beforehand. For that reason  , we recommend that you practice in front of a mirror. You must not only practice the trick itself, but also the way you present it (which is essential with magic tricks).

Even if you perform these tricks for children, keep in mind that they are very intelligent, and children can quickly discover where the “magic” is if you do not practice.
