Crying: 6 reasons why babies cry

Most new mothers and fathers would very much like to know the reasons for their babies’ crying, and especially why they do not want to stop. After a few weeks with a newborn baby, almost all parents worry about their baby’s crying .

But crying is perfectly normal for babies. Newborns communicate through crying. It allows them to express their wants and needs.

Babies cry to tell their parents when they are upset or if something is bothering them.

Reasons why babies cry

It is normal for the newest family member to cry between one and three hours every day.

There are many reasons why babies feel the need to communicate with their parents by crying.

Below, we take a closer look at a few reasons why babies cry.

1. Hunger

Hunger is often the first thing that parents think of when they hear their baby cry. And they are not mistaken: this is one of the main reasons for babies crying.

You can know for sure if your baby is ready to be fed if they try to stick their fingers or other objects in their mouth.

2. A dirty diaper

A dirty diaper can cause discomfort in babies. The sensation is unpleasant and annoying.

But this problem is easy to spot. You can smell when your baby needs a clean diaper.

3. They are tired

Fatigue can make babies grumpy and irritable. Newborns need to sleep several times during the day. It is important to keep track of their nap and put them to bed at the right time every night.

Many parents believe that the best way to achieve this is by rocking them to sleep in their arms. But some babies are actually longer about falling asleep when their parents hold them.

It is usually best to put them in their stroller or cradle.

Avoid letting your baby get tired and grumpy by looking for the signs when they start to get sleepy. When your baby starts yawning, they tell you it’s time to sleep.

4. They feel too hot or too cold

Newborns can feel variations in temperatures, just as adults can. While it is important to wrap them well when it is cold, they will feel uncomfortable if they get too hot.

As an adult, it is easy to detect the temperature. Newborns should wear a piece of clothing more than the adults in the room.

Another reason for your baby’s crying may be if something very hot or cold is touching them. For example, make sure the damp towel is not too cold when changing their diapers.

Make sure their milk or food is not too hot when feeding your baby.

5. They need attention

Babies become the focal point, from the moment they are born. Sometimes when a baby cries, it is simply because he needs the attention of his parents.

Your baby may want you to play with him or go for a walk with him.

It can be a complicated and exhausting task when you have to keep your baby busy so he does not cry.

Babies also get tired of playing. And it is important to know when to stop so they do not start crying again.

6. Pain can be the cause of their crying

Babies also cry if they experience pain or discomfort. Babies are very susceptible to certain diseases – especially fever and stomach pain – during the first months and years.

One of the main causes of abdominal pain may be lactose intolerance. This can happen if the breast milk contains a lot of lactose from the dairy products she ingests or if they receive infant formula that is not suitable for them.

Of course, it is best to see a specialist if your baby continues to cry and the cause is not one of the above reasons.

Continuous crying can be a sign of a more serious problem.
