Many people find it incredible that children can learn to develop so much while playing. Children learn and develop through play in the same way they can learn new languages ​​through songs.

Through playful activities, children can learn to communicate with those around them. Playing with your child is just as important as talking to them or taking care of their health and nutrition. 

According to  The Parent´s Guide,  publisher of the Spanish Association of Children, in a child’s previous years, there are certain actions and games that can promote their learning.

These activities stimulate their curiosity and develop their psychomotor skills.

Educators stress the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional benefits of precise stimulation. All these activities should be performed as if they were games. The child should never be forced to play.

Do not overdo it. A few minutes a day is enough to practice  most of the games and activities that we will go through below.

Divide oaks and the way to stimulate your baby according to their age. For example,  for the first three months, you can place the baby on its back and show them colorful toys  and move it from side to side.

You can also talk, smile, sing to them and make all kinds of sounds  while looking them in the eye.

Do not be afraid to put your finger in the palm of your hand and move their arms and body from one to the other. side  You can also stretch their legs by pulling on their ankles.

When they are lying on their stomach, you can also show them things in front of their face. Raise the object when you get their attention.

Movement and colors

Between three and six months, we can repeat the games we played in the previous stage. In addition, you can send them kisses, stick out their tongues and make sounds that get their attention.

They can also be stimulated when you hold your hands together  and make them touch each other. Another method of stimulation is to gently pull them into their arms so that they get a secure position.

Beneficial results can also be seen by applying a little pressure on the sole of the foot to make them extend their legs. Try  giving them a thing in their hands, when they are able to hold on to it, you can take your hand from it  and repeat the process.

Between six and nine months, we can show them objects with bright colors that make sounds. It will make them follow the object with their eyes. You can move the object closer to them and then remove it again. This process must also be repeated.

Show them a mirror so they can see themselves while repeating their name. You can also cover their face with a small handkerchief and wait for them to remove it, when they do you can say their name.

Talking with gestures and repeating syllables is also a great way to stimulate your child at this stage.

It does not have to be a detailed game, you can just explain to them in a simple way  what you do when you spend time with them. Give them things in both their hands and encourage them to bring things together.

You can also make them aware of their feet by giving them fun socks on. Stimulating body movements (turning around) by lying next to them and saying their name.

According to psychologist Rosa Jove,  spontaneous and creative games are much more effective if done with everyday objects. It makes the child build elements with their imagination.

It will help them explore and discover greater opportunities. They will learn what they are being used for as well as their sizes. Remember that between  nine and twelve months you can already start showing them children’s books with animals while they mimic their sounds.

Another simple game with your baby is to get them to touch different things. You can also stimulate them by changing your facial expressions, making noises with your lips, kissing, wrapping toys in paper and waiting for them to open, and so on.

It is also very useful to give them dice in different sizes that they can play with. Help them stand or walk by holding them in their armpits or hands. It will help them develop their motor skills.

How to play with your 12-15 month old baby

Between 12 and 15 months, we have to help them walk or climb the stairs by holding their hands.  Teach them to put objects in boxes or make towers with dice. They can learn to turn pages in books, hold spoons, drink from a cup and open and close boxes.

We can also teach them about their body parts. By showing them a picture of themselves or through a mirror, we can help stimulate their memory and other cognitive processes.

In this phase  , we should ask them to help when putting on their clothes. We can also help them by eating alone and asking them to do small tasks, such as putting on clothes.

After 18 months, you can start helping them go up and down stairs. You can also give them a ball they can kick around with. Showing them pictures in books is very important for their language development.

You should also start talking to them using single sentences. Store toys around the house that they can find themselves.
