Children fall - a very common occurrence

During the first years of life, children feel restless. That is why children fall so often.

While it is important to address a child who has fallen, the prevention of falls is even more important. Parents need to constantly monitor their children.

From birth to the age of 3, children go through several stages of learning. Their skills should be supported and taken care of.

Care can make the difference between a healthy, young child and a child at permanent risk of injury.

Never alone

Most responsibility for falls is placed on the children’s parents. It is important to plan, pay attention and make reservations to prevent accidents and reduce risks.

Never leave your child alone when they are in high-risk areas, such as on beds, tables, cribs, swings, etc.

If you lose sight of just a small detail, it can cause an accident. It occurs because children do not take into account the consequences and they rely too much on their own skills.

Keep in mind that anything can happen, but many things can be avoided.

Children fall – a common occurrence

The bond between children and fall can be broken. It’s all about organizing and learning good habits.

A good reservation to take is to put safety barriers at the top and bottom of the stairs, and put handrails on the side.

These  safety barriers should not be collapsible or have openings larger than 5 centimeters  to prevent the baby’s head from getting stuck. The stairs should not be slippery.

Another good piece of advice is to always teach children to hold on to the railing. No matter when they go up the stairs, it should be under the supervision of an adult.

Be careful with walkways

The small walkers can get several damage, ranging from small levels to large falls. There is also a risk of migrating into dangerous areas.

Porches, patios, patios and elevated areas should be far away from the areas where children are allowed to roam freely.

Their curiosity when they start crawling and walking can lead them to dangerous places. They want to explore, dance and climb.

These are all activities where there is a risk of children falling. Be aware that the child always wears shoes or non-slip socks.

Adventurous soul that ends up with children falling

Parents do not have to limit the adventurous soul of their children. However, as soon as a baby starts crawling or walking, there are some reservations one has to take.

Lock all doors that could potentially lead to dangerous places. If they use a high chair, make sure they are fastened securely.

Place window protectors or keep the windows closed when the child is nearby. Cribs and beds should also be placed far away from windows.

It is also important that parents prevent their children from crawling on tables and chairs from which children fall down regularly. Furniture they have to crawl into should be stored in a safe place until the child is older.

All the furniture in the child’s help should be anchored in the floor if possible.

Out of the reach of the child!

The little explorers want to walk around the whole house. On their adventures, they can find household appliances or sharp kitchen utensils.

They can also detect dangerous cleaning agents or medications. These things should be kept out of the reach of children.

The baby should be kept at a good distance from certain areas in the kitchen. The kitchen is one of the most dangerous places a child can wander around. They can fall, cut themselves or even get burned.

Falls can also occur when going down or up a bathtub. If parents are not aware, children may be at risk of falling and there are various elements in the bathroom that can be very dangerous.

There are modern devices that can help parents monitor their babies. It does not matter if the child is awake or asleep: it is always a relief to know that the child is well.

In conclusion,  keep in mind that neither the child’s curiosity nor adventurous soul need to be affected, during the first stages of life.

It is important that parents take appropriate precautions to prevent their children from falling and getting hurt.
