3 types of crafts for children between 3 and 5

1. Activity with paper plates and recipes

For this, first activity, the child will have everything he needs to emulate the best chefs. You need to help him prepare a “meal” from pictures of food or other materials.

What do you need?

  • Old kitchen magazines or food brochures
  • Children’s scissors
  • Pieces of paper
  • Glue
  • Mica
  • Food color (optional)

How is it made?

  • Have your child  cut out the pictures and discuss the foods represented.
  • Ask  what foods interest him the most and why he wants to include them  on his plate.
  • Invite the child to put  together their own special meal  by gluing different pictures of food on the paper plates.

Use different pictures that your child can use to put together his menu.

If you want to add an extra dose of imagination, you can add a little food coloring to white glue so your child can pretend it is mustard, ketchup or gravy.

Once the gourmet collages are done,  your child can integrate them into his fictional and imaginative games, and serve food to dolls and stuffed animals.

2. Footwear box-fish aquarium

An aquarium leads to several creative possibilities. From a footwear bag,  you can recreate an underwater scene, and simulate an aquarium, filled with cardboard fish.

What do you need?

  • Aluminum foil or paint
  • Yarn or thread
  • Cardboard to create the water figures
  • Tape, stones, pearls and everything else that can be incorporated into the aquarium.

How to make it?

  • Help your child paint the shoebox completely. Next, cut two, large rectangles along the sides of the box, which should serve as windows to the wonderful world of water. If you prefer, you can use aluminum foil instead of painting the box.
  • Put all the decorations for the aquarium in place and make any other treasure or fish. You can cut out images from magazines, or print images from the Internet. Be aware that the sea figures always have two sides.
  • Make a hole in the top of each figure  and place a small piece of thread through the hole.
  • Cover or paint the lid to fit the rest of the box. Next,  make small holes in the lid with a pencil so you can hang the fish up. Pass the free end of the thread up through the hole in the lid and tie a large knot on the thread.

3. Flower wreath of Easter bunnies

Finally, the creation of a wreath of Easter bunnies will  inspire your child as the day of this holiday approaches.

  • Make eyes with buttons, and tails with white cotton,  and glue them on the colorful rabbits.
  • Make a hole in the top of each rabbit and pass some cotton thread through the paper rabbits. Switch between the colors and make the desired length.
  • Next, your find Easter garlands are ready to be hung up!

Finally, it is important to understand that  children are usually enthusiastic when it comes to trying a new activity. Use this to your advantage.

If you are trying out some of these types of crafts for kids between 3 and 5 and  your child just is not interested, it is better not to insist.
