Homemakers Also Work

There is a worrying tendency today to judge stay-at-home moms. But women who dedicate their bodies and souls to their sons and daughters also work.

All over the world, we commemorate International Women’s Day. 8. March. An event originally known as  International Working Women’s Day. We celebrate women’s achievements in the workplace, but we must also be careful not to forget the stay-at-home mothers who choose to care for their children.

Unfortunately, this important day has a tragic history. On March 8, 1911, a large group of women died in a fire at a textile factory. They fought for equality, or more specifically recognition of their rights.

The purpose of these activists was to improve conditions for all workers, regardless of gender. Today we remember them as a symbol of the history of feminism.

But is it correct to say that women who dedicate their lives as stay-at-home mothers to raising their children are not worth celebrating on International Women’s Day?

Of course not. Homemakers deserve the same recognition as those who choose a professional career. Caring for a home and a family is also a difficult task. Unlike formal work  , it is unpaid and infinite.

Women who stay home to care for their children are not valued for their work. They do not receive bonuses or salaries. For many people, they do not even count as workers.

But without them, we would not be where we are today. For many of us, they are our mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts and friends. Everyone deserves the same respect.

It does not matter that they stay at home. It’s not like they’m on permanent vacation. This is something that society needs to start recognizing. Mothers who care about their children full-time also work as mothers.

Homemakers work as mothers

The days go by and  there is always work to be done, clothes to be washed and to be cleaned up.

Days or even weeks can go by without a conversation with another adult other than her partner. Being a full-time mom can be a lot harder than it immediately seems. If it seems like a simple life, just think of the daily monotony.

Of course, this is not about competition. It’s not about who is most tired, who has the biggest bags under their eyes or who sacrifices the most.

In fact, many mothers work twice as much as others: both outside and at home. So why not include them too? In our own way, we are all working women.

Mom does double work

In any case, there is another sad reality behind the discussions about stay-at-home moms. When you are a mother, finding a job can be very difficult.

People will judge your life without having lived it. It is enough to hear from other mothers who have been on maternity leave and said how difficult it is to get back into the labor market.

Of course, if a mother cannot find the job she needs, society condemns her. Mothers have adversity on both sides. All because she is a mother, and has chosen a slightly different path.

All mothers work

Women who care about their children are working women,  whether they are paid or not.

Whichever path they take, all mothers are worthy of respect. Work of any kind brings dignity. We must appreciate everyone’s work.

Caring for others has never been an easy task, and is even less so today. Having the responsibility of raising a child is very difficult  and not everyone lives up to the task. It takes a big heart and a huge amount of patience.

Care is more than just a word. We often ignore the fact that many people really want to do it. Despite the fact that it is often overlooked, the  decision to take care of another person is made out of love.

Devotion, insecurity, dedication and effort.

What people do not know about motherhood is how important it is for both the mother and the child – and society.

A child who grows up with the full attention of their parents will not lack anything in their emotional life. It is something that benefits us all.
